Chem. <strong>647<\/strong>, 1&#8211;7 (2021)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a sample with nominal composition BiCr2S5 a new misfit layer compound has been synthesized and studied via transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It presents a composite modulated structure with a composition that can be formulated as (BiS)<sub>1.19<\/sub>[(CrS<sub>2<\/sub>)-Bi<sub>1\/3<\/sub>-(CrS<sub>2<\/sub>)]. It consists of the periodic stacking of a Q layer (BiS) with two H layers (CrS<sub>2<\/sub>), &#8230;QHHQHH&#8230;, with additional bismuth atoms inserted between the H layers. Selected area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns show an almost commensurate fit between the pseudo-tetragonal Q (BiS) and the pseudo-orthohexagonal H (Bi<sub>1\/3<\/sub>Cr<sub>2<\/sub>S<sub>4<\/sub>) subcells along the misfit direction a, being b the same for both sublattices and c the layers stacking direction. In addition to the characteristic misfit modulation between the two sub-structures, a second modulation is observed in the H sub-structure produced by the ordering of bismuth atoms within the Van der Waals gap that occurs between consecutive H layers. High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) images show ordered stacking sequences between the (BiS) and (Bi<sub>1\/3<\/sub>Cr<sub>2<\/sub>S<sub>4<\/sub>) layers. Besides, disordered intergrowths have been occasionally found as well as different kinds of twinning defects.<\/p>\n<p>En una muestra con composici\u00f3n nominal BiCr2S5 un nuevo compuesto de \u00abmisfit layer\u00bb ha sido sintetizado y estudiado a trav\u00e9s de microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de transmisi\u00f3n (TEM). Presenta una estructura modulada compuesta con una composici\u00f3n que puede formularse como (BiS)<sub>1.19<\/sub>[(CrS<sub>2<\/sub>)-Bi<sub>1\/3<\/sub>-(CrS<sub>2<\/sub>)]. Consiste en el apilamiento peri\u00f3dico de una capa Q (BiS) con dos capas H (CrS<sub>2<\/sub>), &#8230; QHHQHH&#8230;, con \u00e1tomos de bismuto adicionales insertados entre las capas H. Los patrones de difracci\u00f3n de electrones de \u00e1rea seleccionada (SAED) muestran un ajuste casi conmensurable entre las subceldas pseudo-tetragonal Q (BiS) y la pseudo-ortohexagonal H (Bi<sub>1\/3<\/sub>Cr<sub>2<\/sub>S<sub>4<\/sub>) a lo largo de la direcci\u00f3n de \u00abmisfit\u00bb a, siendo b el mismo para ambos subl\u00e1tices y c la direcci\u00f3n de apilamiento de las capas. Adem\u00e1s de la modulaci\u00f3n de \u00abmisfit\u00bb caracter\u00edstica entre los dos subestructuras, se observa una segunda modulaci\u00f3n en la subestructura H producido por el orden de los \u00e1tomos de bismuto dentro de la brecha de Van der Waals que se produce entre capas H consecutivas. La microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de transmisi\u00f3n de alta resoluci\u00f3n (HRTEM) y las im\u00e1genes de microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de transmisi\u00f3n de barrido (STEM) muestran secuencias de apilamiento ordenadas entre capas (BiS) y (Bi<sub>1\/3<\/sub>Cr<sub>2<\/sub>S<sub>4<\/sub>).
