He was awarded the <em>&#8220;First Ulrich Prize&#8221;<\/em> for the most innovative work presented by a young scientist to the <em>VI International Workshop on Glasses and Ceramics From Gels<\/em> in 1991. Dr. David Levy was recently nominated by the CSIC for the <em>&#8220;Juan Carlos I Rey\u201d<\/em> research award. He has authored or co-authored over 147 papers (&gt; 7550 citations; h=41, G-Scholar), reviews, book chapters, Co-Editor of <em>The Sol-Gel Handbook<\/em> and several patents related to the preparation of new <em>optical Sol-Gel materials and their applications,<\/em> and was Principal Investigator for 28 Research and Industry Projects. He is member of the <em>International Advisory Board (IAB)<\/em> of the Organizing Program Committees of the <em>&#8220;International Sol-Gel Conferences&#8221;<\/em> and <em>\u201cSol-Gel Optics\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201cOptoelectronics and Optical Science and Technology\u201d<\/em> of the SPIE (USA), and member of the Experts Panel of the Materials Research GROWTH, FP7 and H2020 Materials and Space Programs of the EU. He was the Chair of the <em>XVII Sol-Gel International Conference<\/em> held in Madrid, 2013. He is heading the <em>Sol-Gel Group (<strong>SGG<\/strong>)<\/em> at ICMM, and his current research interests are optical materials (bulk materials; thin-film coatings as AR optical coatings, protection transparent coatings and functional coatings; oxide nanoparticles) and liquid crystal materials, by Sol-Gel processing and their applications.
