Nanoworkshop 2025 will be held in a historic and unique place: the Santa María de La Rábida complex (currently belonging to the International University of Andalusia -UNIA-). The background of this building dates back to 1943 when the facilities belonged to the Universidad Hispanoamericana de La Rábida, an international scientific forum focused on Americanist studies and research.
The headquarters of La Rábida is located in a very special place due to its proximity to the Doñana National Park and throughout its history, some of the most important personalities in science, literature, arts and politics have passed through its classrooms, such as Daniel Vázquez Díaz, Mario Benedetti, Juan Velarde, José Saramago, Esperanza Brito, Jaime García Añoveros, Pedro Laín Entralgo, Juan de Mata Carriazo, Cesar Antonio Molina Sánchez, Agustín Ibarrola and Manuel Olivencia, among others.
It is currently the headquarters of the UNIA, a public institution created to contribute to the creation, development, transmission, and criticism of science, technology, and culture through teaching, coordinated research, and the exchange of scientific and technological information of international and inter-regional interest.
In this context, presiding over and bringing together more than 80 universities from the other side of the Atlantic, the links of solidarity and support for the improvement of the Ibero-American university structure have been nurtured. At the same time, this center has become a preferential destination for students from the other side of the Atlantic who seek to improve their curricular preparation, preferably at the postgraduate level.
For all these reasons, the Santa María de La Rábida campus is heir to a trajectory that has left a deep mark: what has come to be known as ‘The Spirit of La Rábida’. A spirit that shapes its unique soul, impregnated, among others, with the values of excellence, creative encounter and solidarity.
ACCOMODATION
The UNIA headquarters has the Santa María de la Rábida Residence Hall with 66 rooms that will be distributed according to the order of registration, so we recommend registering as soon as possible.
