Process-control during thin film growth for the fabrication of nanoengineered porous coatings by physical vapor deposition methods.

Title of the talk: Fundamentals and Applications of porous Nanocolumnar Thin Films Grown at Oblique Angles

Short CV: Dr. Alberto Palmero is a tenured scientist at CSIC and member of the research group Nanotechnology on Surfaces and Plasmas at the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (Spain). He specializes on the process-control and analysis of the main atomistic processes governing the plasma-assisted deposition of nanostructured thin films. With a h index of 26, he is well known for the development of the oblique angle geometry by plasma-assisted magnetron sputtering to promote the growth of porous coatings with large specific surfaces. He has also applied these fundamental results for the development of numerous applications in fields as diverse as biomedicine, optics or smart windows, among others.
