The Multifrequency AFM Conference series was established in 2008 to promote the development of advanced atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques, particularly multifrequency imaging and force-spectroscopy methods. The conference brings together both established researchers and early-career scientists working on AFM theory, instrumentation, software, and applications. Since 2018, its scope has expanded to include the Symposium on Solid-Liquid Interfaces and the Symposium on Cell and Soft Matter Nanomechanics, reflecting the growing impact of AFM in interfacial science, biology, and soft condensed matter.
The conference series was founded by Ricardo Garcia and has been organized by members of his research group. Meetings are held regularly in Madrid and provide a forum for presenting recent advances, fostering collaborations, and discussing emerging directions in nanoscale characterization and nanomechanics.
Attendance: 74 participants at the 1st conference (2008), 90 at the 2nd (2009), 81 at the 3rd (2011), 102 at the 4th (2012), 83 at the 5th (2014), 87 at the 6th (2016), 110 at the 7th (2018), 125 at the 8th (2020, online), 115 at the 9th (2023), and 141 at the 10th conference (2025).
