¡Felicidades a la Prof. María Elena Villafuerte-Castrejón!
Our collaborator, from the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM), won the “Epsilon de Oro” prize to a professional life devoted to the study of Electroceramics and, in a great part, to ferro-piezoelectric ceramics. The prize was given at the XIII edition of “Electrocerámica, Reunion Nacional”, hold at the “Universidad Internacional Menendez Pelayo (UIMP)” site in the city of Cuenca (Castilla-La Mancha, Spain) last 23 June, 2017.
Prof. Villafuerte-Castrejón got her B.S. degree in Chemistry, the M.S. degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Facultad de Química, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and the Ph.D. degree in Science from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in México. She is working at the “Instituto de Investigaciones en Materiales (IIM), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)”, as “Investigador Titular” and she is Lecturer at the School of Chemistry and the Postgraduate School of Materials Engineering at UNAM. She is the Head at the Laboratory of Chemistry for Ceramic Materials.
She got the Gabino Barreda Medal at the School of Chemistry (UNAM) in 1980, the Medal of “Mérito Universitario, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa”, Mexico, in 1992, the “Diploma al Mérito Universitario (UNAM)” in 1998 and the Recognition “Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (UNAM)” in 2005.
