Dr. José Manuel Amarilla

Li- and Na-ion batteries characterization Coordinator

Dr. José Manuel Amarilla, is a staff scientist at the Institute of Materials Science of Madrid (CSIC), Spain. Obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Univ. Complutense de Madrid (1990). Post-doctoral stay at the Laboratoire d’Ionique et de Electrochimie du Solides Grenoble (France, 1991-1993). He has participated in 40 projects, being IP in 8, with 94 scientific articles and a metric of h= 26 and 2136 citations. The main objective of his research has been the synthesis and study of advanced materials with applications in electrochemical devices such as rechargeable batteries, supercapacitors, and fuel cells. Recently, he is developing safe anode materials based on titanium oxides and low flammable ionic liquids electrolytes to improve the safety of lithium and sodium-ion batteries. Funded by various companies JMAA processed composite electrodes including graphene and manufactured new battery prototypes from lab scale to the pre-industrial size
