Her present R&D interests include synthesis by soft-chemistry routes and characterization of nanostructures, thin films and bulk materials of functional (dielectric, piezoelectric, ferroelectric, multiferroic, photovoltaic) metal oxides for microelectronics and flexible electronics, design of homo- and hetero-metallic molecular precursors of high-tech oxides, engineering of high-performance oxide compositions and sustainable processing methods for advanced materials and emerging technologies. Her current research activities are highly interdisciplinary and mostly focused on the Development of low-temperature sol-gel synthesis strategies to attain metal oxide materials and the Integration of functional thin films and self-assembled systems with semiconductor and flexible substrates (Si-technology and Flexible Electronics – Electronic Skin, Wearable electronics).

Her present R&D interests are focused on (i) green and low/room temperature synthesis of crystalline metal oxide, sulphide and halogenide colloids by wet chemistry and colloidal routes, mainly miniemulsions and solvo/hydrothermal synthesis at low/room temperature and (ii) investigation of crystallization mechanisms of inorganic materials under not standard conditions (e.g., confined space), (iii) synthesis and characterisation of organically modified transition metal oxoclusters and oxothioclusters and complexes (M=Zr, Hf, Ta, Ti-Hf, Hf-Ti-Zr, Ba-Ti, Cu, Zn) and of functional inorganic-organic hybrid materials prepared by covalent embedding of functionalised oxoclusters into polymers by co-polymerisation reactions with suitable monomers. This synthesis activity is complemented by the time- and temperature- in situ and ex situ investigation of nucleation and growth mechanisms of inorganic colloids by spectroscopic (XPS, XAS, Raman, FT-IR) and diffraction/scattering (SAXS, XRD) methods, as well as by the characterisation of the synthetised materials.
Manuscript Submission Information
The issue is now open for submission of original research articles. Submission should be made through the normal Editorial Manager, selecting in the section of General Information “Low temperature solution route approaches to functional nanoscale materials” from the Section / Category dropdown menu. All submissions will be subject to the rigorous peer review process adopted by the journal and only those papers that meet these standards will be accepted. The deadline for submission of research articles is 31st December, 2019.
