Welcome to the Materials for Health Group at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid.
The Materials for Health Group, integrated in the Energy, Environment and Health Department, is devoted to search for new perspectives on the synthesis, structure and function of materials. It has concentrated until now its activities on four fields: The preparation of nanomaterials – primarily nanoparticles, the modification of nanomaterials by doping or coating, the preparation of colloidal suspensions and the characterization of them. All topics are closely connected to give new insights in the properties of nanomaterials and/or lead to novel applications in fields such as bioimaging, display technologies, or catalysis, magnetic devices and sensor.
In 2017, a new research topic focused on the design and development of novel biomaterials for biomedical applications including tissue engineering has been incorporated in the research activities of the group.
The Group of Materials for Health consists of two subgroups: Colloidal Nanocrystals and Chemistry (headed by Professor M. Puerto Morales) and the Laboratory of Advanced Materials for Life (headed by Dr M. Concepción Serrano).
