Oxide nanoporous membranes

The preparation of nanoporous membranes of alumina (Al2O3) by anodization processes where long range hexagonal ordering is induced by self-assembling or nano-imprint. Self-aligned nanoporous membranes of titania (TiO2) are also prepared following the same method. The pore diameter, pore length and lattice parameter can be controlled by the anodization conditions, bath composition and process time.

In order to optimize the long range ordering of the nanopores a double anodization of the aluminum surface is carried out.

Alumina template preparation

Anodic alumina membranes are subsequently employed as templates for the preparation of different ordered nanostructures.
