Magnetic force imaging

Spin structures of nanoscale magnetic elements are the subject of increasing scientific effort both from the fabrication point of view and regarding its characterization with accurate techniques with suitable resolution and sensitivity to characterize nanoobjects. Particularly interesting and hard to achieve is a direct study of their magnetization reversal process. In this respect, Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) is an advanced technique for domain observation, which can become a powerful ‘‘local’’ technique to study the switching process at the nanometer scale when in situ magnetic field is applied. The group of the Magnetic Force Microscopy of the ICMM-CSIC is interested in the study of magnetization process in 1D and 2D magnetic system as nanowires and nanostructures.
