Álvaro Jiménez Galán

My work lies at the interface between ultrafast laser physics and 2D materials. I completed my PhD in 2015 at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the supervision of Luca Argenti and Fernando Martín, where I developed numerical tools to investigate the laser-driven dynamics of atomic autoionizing states unfolding at the attosecond (10-18s) timescale.

From 2016 to 2021, I did a postdoctoral stay in the group of Misha Ivanov (Max Born Institute, Berlin), where I studied the non-linear optical response of matter under strong, polarization-tailored light fields. In 2021, I obtained a Marie Curie Fellowship to perform high harmonic generation experiments in 2D semiconductors in the group of Giulio Vampa and Paul Corkum at the National Research Council of Canada, which allowed me to complement my theoretical background with experimental skills.

Since 2023, I am a Talento CAM Fellow at the ICMM, where I focus on the use of strong light fields for monitoring and manipulating electronic dynamics in solids on attosecond timescales.
